Jonathan Wackrow

Jonathan Wackrow is Managing Director of Sentinel Resource Group, where he advises corporations, executives, and institutions on risk management, intelligence, crisis management, and executive protection. With more than 25 years of experience spanning U.S. government service and private-sector leadership, he has established himself as a trusted advisor on organizational resilience and complex threats, drawing on direct experience protecting U.S. Presidents, foreign Heads of State, corporate leaders, and ultra-high-net-worth individuals.

Wackrow began his career as a Special Agent with the U.S. Secret Service, ultimately serving on the Presidential Protective Division. There, he developed security plans across domestic and international locations, conducted threat assessments, and coordinated with military, law enforcement, and intelligence agencies to protect the President, First Lady, National Security Advisor, and other senior government officials.

His government service extended well beyond the Presidential Protective Division. He served as Shift Leader on the Secretary of Homeland Security's detail, and his work carried a global dimension as well, protecting hundreds of visiting foreign dignitaries during their travel to the United States and coordinating the security of U.S. officials abroad. That international footprint positioned him as a liaison to foreign governments on matters of security and protocol, and his experience extended to large-scale event security, including National Special Security Events such as the 2013 Presidential Inauguration and multiple sessions of the United Nations General Assembly.

Since transitioning to the private sector, Wackrow has applied that protective mindset to building security programs that anticipate risk rather than simply respond to it. At Sentinel Resource Group, he works directly with executives and Boards to design risk-based solutions that hold up under real pressure, treating resilience not as a standalone function but as a component of organizational strategy, one that protects people, operations, and reputation together.

He is also a recognized voice on risk. Since 2016, Wackrow has served as a CNN Law Enforcement Analyst, offering perspective on national security, counterterrorism, and physical security through his weekly segment, The Risk Radar, with commentary appearing in The Washington Post, The New York Times, Politico, and Wired. He is the published author of The Protector's Edge: Leadership through Strategy and Action, a book drawn from his experience translating protective instincts into organizational leadership.

Wackrow holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Loyola University and trained at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and the U.S. Secret Service Academy. He held a Top Secret/SCI Clearance and has received the Department of Homeland Security Secretary's Achievement Award and the U.S. Secret Service Director's Citation. He serves on the Board of Sworn Networks Inc. and the CSIS Commission on Hostage Taking and Wrongful Detention, and is active with ASIS International and the U.S. Department of State Overseas Security Advisory Council.
